Belgrade: Angola and Serbia signed 10 cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding this Tuesday in Belgrade to boost bilateral relations. The documents were initialed in the presence of the Heads of State of Angola and Serbia, Joo Louren§o and Aleksandar Vucic, after official talks between the delegations of the two countries.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the agreements include significant economic measures such as the Agreement for the Elimination of Double Taxation on Income Taxes and for the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance. This particular agreement was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Serbia, Adrijana Mesarovic, and the Minister of Finance of Angola, Vera Daves de Sousa.
Another major agreement is the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments, initialed by Adrijana Mesarovic and the Angolan Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Miguªns. This agreement is seen as a critical step for enhancing investor confidence and increasing capital flows between the two nations.
In terms of transportation, an Air Services Agreement was reached, alongside an agreement concerning the employment of family members of diplomats and technical staff from diplomatic missions. Additional memorandums of understanding were signed in the fields of agriculture, environmental protection, and information and communication technologies.
A document focusing on postal service cooperation was signed between the Serbian Post Office and the National Post and Telegraph Company of Angola. Furthermore, an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Serbian news agency Tanjug and the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP), enhancing media sector collaboration.
The agreements also included a Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Development Agency (RAS) and the Angolan Agency for Private Investment and Export Promotion (AIPEX), reflecting the political will of both countries to elevate bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
The signing ceremony was complemented by an Angola/Serbia Business Roundtable, attended by both presidents, highlighting the commitment to advancing economic, commercial, technological, environmental, and institutional collaborations.
