Lubango: Angola's Permanent Representative to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ana Maria de Oliveira, met with her British counterpart, Eleanor Sanders, to discuss issues on the multilateral agenda, with emphasis on human rights. According to Angola Press News Agency, the two diplomats analyzed cooperation within the United Nations system and current global challenges, at a time when Angola is a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term. Ana Maria de Oliveira reaffirmed Angola's willingness to work with the other members of the Council, in addition to underlining the country's commitment to constructive dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. Eleanor Sanders, representing the United Kingdom, highlighted her country's interest in issues related to human rights, especially concerning the protection of women and young people. The British diplomat also expressed concern about the human rights situation in several African countries, including Sudan, the Democr atic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, and Somalia. The United Kingdom intends to deepen cooperation with African countries on human rights, particularly with Angola, in areas of common interest.
