Lobito: The executive secretary of the Lobito Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency, Amadeu Nunes, confirmed the implementation of a joint integration plan to promote economic and social development in communities along the railway line. In an interview with TV Zimbo, Nunes noted that the government aims to transform the railway into a comprehensive corridor by integrating it with other logistics corridors in both the southern and northern regions of Angola, thereby engaging neighboring communities. According to Angola Press News Agency, the infrastructure serves more than just the transit of critical minerals. The railway crosses 11 provinces-five in Angola, four in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and two in Zambia-affecting a population of over 30 million inhabitants. These communities, comprising both producers and consumers, are expected to benefit from the corridor's development. The Angolan government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has recently initiated a coordination mec hanism for the Lobito Corridor. This mechanism is designed to align strategies among various national, regional, and international stakeholders involved in the corridor's development, which is considered vital for linking the African continent's interior to global markets.
