Luanda: Angola will have a monument called "Coroa do Semba" by 2026, featuring a modern geometric design as part of the 'Semba in the World' cultural and tourist project. The monument, to be constructed in the Province of Luanda by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, aims to symbolize the four central elements of Semba: the Artist, the Instrument, the Music, and the Dance. It is a tribute to the music style considered the "king" of Angola.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the project coordinator, H©lio Arago, discussed the initiative in Lubango, southern Hula Province. Arago emphasized that this investment marks the 50th Anniversary of National Independence. Beyond Angola, similar monuments are slated for Portugal, Brazil, Belgium, Cabo Verde, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Argentina, the Netherlands, Mozambique, and the United Arab Emirates, reflecting the global reach of the music style.
He further explained that every aspect of the monument will aim to capture the essence of Angolan cultural expression, showcasing the richness, tradition, and universality of Semba. This initiative is part of the Semba 2025 Tourist Route, designed to promote Angolan cultural identity on an international scale and enhance the country's presence in the global artistic landscape.
