Angola Unveils Children’s Comic Book Edition of Constitution

Luanda: The Constitutional Court (TC) presented the 2nd edition of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola for Children, produced in a comic book format, in Luanda on Saturday. This presentation marked the conclusion of the 18th-anniversary celebrations of the institution's establishment. According to Angola Press News Agency, the event took place at the Palace of Justice and included the premiere of the play "The Kingdom of Rights" (*O Reino dos Direitos*), performed by the Elinga Theater Group. The event also featured a review of the commemorative activities that began on June 11. Aida Gonçalves, Director of the Constitutional Court's Office for Exchange and Public Relations, explained that the publication uses everyday stories to help children understand the rights and duties enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola. The initiative aims to foster civic education from childhood, based on the belief that a well-informed child will grow into an adult who is more conscious of their rights a nd duties. The ceremony gathered children, parents, and guardians, who participated in recreational activities and sessions to raise awareness about the fundamental rights of minors as set forth in the Constitution. Ermelinda Ventura, a guardian present at the event, described the activity as a significant contribution to the children's civic education, as it allows them to learn about the principles and values enshrined in the Constitution from an early age. Established 18 years ago, the Constitutional Court is the supreme body for constitutional jurisdiction in Angola and is responsible for administering justice in constitutional matters and upholding the Constitution.
