Angolan and Serbian Diplomats Strengthen Historical Ties in Lusaka

Lusaka: The Angolan ambassador to Zambia, Albino Malungo, met with the Serbian ambassador in Zambia, Jasna Zrnovic, to assess the state of bilateral relations between Angola and Serbia. The meeting aimed to evaluate and enhance the long-standing cooperation that has existed between the two nations since before Angola's proclamation of independence on November 11th.

According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release from the Angolan Embassy in Zambia highlighted the significance of Angola as a priority in Serbia's foreign investment policy, especially within Africa. The meeting, held at the Angolan Official Residence in Lusaka, was an opportunity for both diplomatic missions to bolster their friendship and discuss ongoing exchanges between the countries.

The relationship between Angola and Serbia is rooted in history, beginning with the recognition of Angola's independence by the former Yugoslavia in 1975. This partnership has been reinforced through agreements in various sectors, including industry, agriculture, defence, education, and culture. The diplomatic and technical-scientific cooperation between the two countries was formalized on April 25, 1977.

Currently, there is a notable presence of Angolan students in Serbian universities, pursuing studies in fields such as economics, medicine, and law, which further signifies the depth of educational exchanges contributing to the strong ties between the two nations.
