Luanda: The Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Arts, History and Literature (ABRASCI) honored Angolan MPs Luísa Damio and Maria de Lurdes Fernandes on Wednesday, in Luanda, for their contributions to the academic and cultural development of both countries. At the ceremony, held at the António Agostinho Neto Memorial, artists Filipe Mukenga, Nino Jazz, Dodó Miranda, Jay Lorenzo, Vladmiro Gonga, Alfredo Yungi, Dog Murras, Mário Gomes, Bernard Roland, Mário Gomes, and Yola Semedo were also recognized. According to Angola Press News Agency, the president of the academy, Waldirene Chelala, stated that these individuals were recognized for their trajectories and areas of activity, marking a historical milestone in their commitment to continue contributing to the academic and cultural development of Angola and Brazil. She highlighted that ABRASCI brings together academics from ten countries who contribute to the institution's evolution. Expressing her satisfaction, she acknowledged the cooperation with renowned Angolan professionals on this occasion. Deputy Luísa Damio, present at the event, emphasized human capital as a key agent of scientific evolution. She advocated for transforming human resources into human capital, promoting employability, and transforming society. She expressed her emotional connection to the movement aimed at valuing human capital in ten African countries, showcasing the courage and empowerment among women contributing to education. Angolan artist Yola Semedo saw the event as a celebration of national culture and a reflection on the legacy of Angolan artists. She affirmed her commitment to continue working in the arts, emphasizing the need for support to expand national talent. Professor Maria Helena described the recognition as a gratifying honor from a century-old international academy. She viewed it as a recognition of her academic and professional journey, acknowledging the responsibility and continuity of work it demands. Her contributions are focused on the field of Portuguese Language educ ation, upholding professional ethics for societal well-being. The ceremony also marked the inauguration of Angolans Benedito Paulo Manuel, José Octávio Serra Van-Dunem, António André Chivanga Barros, Maria Helena Miguel, Maria de Lurdes Fernandes, Aurélio Gerónimo, Cussi Bernardo, and Brazilian Raimundo Lima as full members of the academy. These individuals have notable roles in academia, business, law, and religious leadership, contributing significantly to their respective fields.
