Angolan Startups Equip With Satellite Connectivity Kits

Luanda: Eleven startups in Luanda have received 23 satellite connectivity kits as part of the Conecta Angola Comercial project. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTICS) through the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), aims to enhance internet access across six provinces in Angola.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the recipient companies, including M4com, Eprintcom, GC Green, Telelink, Joesid Empreendedorismo, and Net Service, were provided with equipment such as modems, BUCs, LNBs, feed horns, and antennas with support arms. V Snia Filipe, the deputy director-general for the technical and scientific area of GGPEN, emphasized that the project has already trained over 140 professionals, aiming to bridge the digital divide in various regions.

Filipe noted the program's impact in provinces like Lunda-Norte, Moxico, Cunene, Bi©, and Cabinda, where startups are leveraging space technology to deliver internet services to remote communities. She mentioned that these areas, which previously benefited from the Conecta Angola Social program, now also enjoy commercial internet coverage.

The distribution of these kits is seen as a catalyst for entrepreneurship, job creation, and establishing sustainable businesses. Filipe highlighted the initiative's goal to reduce inequalities in access to information and digital services, demonstrating space technology's potential in fostering local development.

Additionally, Filipe announced future distributions of kits and encouraged interested startups to register on the official portal, www.conectangola.ao. She also set a 30-day deadline for startups to report on the social and economic impacts of the ANGOSAT-2 satellite in expanding internet access and contributing to local development.
