Angolan Visual Artists Highlight Growth in Arts Across the Country

Luanda: Visual arts in Angola have experienced significant growth, thanks to the emergence of new schools that transform young people into true talents, some visual artists said on Thursday in Luanda.

According to Angola Press News Agency, visual arts encompass a range of artistic expressions such as painting, sculpture, drawing, crafts, photography, design, and urban art. The visual artists unanimously agreed that, in recent years, there has been great progress in the visual arts sector in the country.

Visual artist lvaro Macieira noted that the visual arts sector had made a qualitative leap, attributed to the growing number of young people interested in art at a national level and the quality of the works they present. He emphasized that this burgeoning talent is making its mark both nationally and internationally, aided by the arts schools established in the country over the years.

'In this time of modernity, young people find it easy to take Angolan visual arts to the international arena, as they master foreign languages and have the internet to research,' he highlighted.

Curator and visual artist Benjamim Sabby voiced his satisfaction at the emergence of young talents in the field, viewing the current situation in Angolan visual arts as positive. He mentioned several promising artists, including Ana Silva, who are developing international careers.

Benjamim Sabby also advocated for the creation of contemporary art museums to facilitate the exhibition of works by national and international artists.

Visual artist Emanuel Z© called for greater unity among professionals to strengthen the community of artists. 'We need to give more visibility to the work of Angolan artists and for this, unity is essential.'
