Angolans and Brazilians Highlight Implementation of Pedagogical Policies in Huambo Province

Luanda: Angolan and Brazilian academics on Monday, in the central Huambo Province, highlighted the need to implement pedagogical policies in general education schools aiming to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process. This view was expressed during the opening of an international forum held in the municipality of Bailundo, that is taking place virtually until Wednesday, as part of the celebrations marking the 124th anniversary of the municipality's founding, on the 16th of the current month. According to Angola Press News Agency, while discussing the development of the political and pedagogical project and institutional culture grounded in leadership, participation, and shared responsibility, academics emphasized the necessity of sound organizational principles and technical competence among school administrators, as well as a rigorous and persistent commitment to the effective functioning of schools. Addressing the roles and profiles required for school leadership and management positions, the Angolan academic Mário Graça da Costa stated that leaders or principals must consolidate appropriate knowledge and pursue training in educational sciences. This is essential for guiding schools in a professional and technically proficient manner aimed at achieving strong results. In turn, Brazilian academic Oneide Lino da Silva said that the political and pedagogical project is a fundamental educational instrument, as it demands specific skills and competencies from administrators at schools committed to sustainable development across all human dimensions. She noted that an advanced teaching-learning system linked to this project improves the overall social and economic environment while fostering inclusive participation and direct community involvement. Another Brazilian academic, Diego Kenji de Almeida, noted that the political and pedagogical project constitutes a decisive framework for shaping the cultural identity of educational institutions, adding that this element serves as a guiding principle and d efines the profile of students upon graduation, as established by the institution. Angolan national Celestino Piedade Chiquela emphasized the need for constant caution and social responsibility in order to promote academic maturity and the implementation of the pedagogical policies in the appropriate dimension to ensure the quality of the teaching-learning system within educational institutions. He stated that it is essential to clarify political and pedagogical projects based on science and avoid ideological constraints in order to prevent a lack of pedagogical commitment within schools. The official stressed that the quality of any academic institution depends fundamentally on the effective development of such a project, as it enables inclusive participation and an assessment of the institutions' objective realities. On its first day, the event addressed topics including political and pedagogical projects, the roles and profiles of school leadership positions, and inclusive physical education and sports a s a tool for fostering citizenship.
