Luanda: Angola's National Qualifications Institute (INQ) Director-General Edgarda Neto stated on Tuesday that the country has aligned its training offerings with the recommendations of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Speaking at the opening of the first edition of Qualifications Week (SENAQ), she explained that aligning training programs in Angola with the qualifications framework facilitates how other countries perceive the competence levels of citizens across various educational stages.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Edgarda Neto emphasized that this measure represents a gain for Angola, paving the way for qualification levels that closely match those of countries that have already adopted such systems. She further noted that a key benefit of the National Qualifications System is the Recognition, Validation, and Certification of Competence (RVCC) program, which allows individuals without formal training to obtain a diploma recognizing their competence.
Regarding SENAQ, she highlighted that the initiative marks the INQ's fourth anniversary and aims to disseminate and share knowledge about the importance of qualifications and the national system. She announced that following the opening event-organized by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor, and Social Security (MAPTSS)-the provinces of Cabinda, Hula, Namibe, Lunda-Norte, and Huambo will host activities. These events will provide a deeper understanding of the National Qualifications System and, above all, the RVCC program across various locations.
Meanwhile, Manuel Mbangui, Director-General of the National Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP), viewed SENAQ as an opportunity to better raise awareness among young people regarding the importance of skills and competencies in the labor market. 'This week, we want to highlight what companies are looking for-not essentially a r©sum© or a certificate, but people who can solve practical problems,' he emphasized.
