Luanda: A cooperation protocol between the Angolan Agency for Regulation and Supervision of Insurance (ARSEG) and the National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) was signed on Thursday in Luanda, marking a significant step towards enhancing the well-being of workers in the oil sector. According to Angola Press News Agency, ANPG CEO Paulino Jerónimo described the agreement as a crucial instrument that reinforces the collective commitment to worker protection, employer accountability, and the strengthening of the rule of law in the oil industry. Jerónimo emphasized the strategic importance of this sector to the national economy, highlighting the high risks involved which necessitate robust safety and protection standards. The collaboration between ARSEG and ANPG aims to ensure that workers have the necessary coverage to face sector-related risks, thereby guaranteeing their dignity, justice, and well-being. Jerónimo noted that despite their distinct areas of influence, both institutions share a common obj ective of promoting, controlling, and supervising mandatory insurance in the oil sector. He specifically pointed out the importance of Accident and Occupational Disease Insurance (SATDP) and other policies that protect workers, operations, and critical assets. ARSEG's CEO, Filomena Manjata, highlighted that the protocol reflects a modern vision of regulation and supervision, underpinned by institutional coordination, responsible information sharing, and harmonized procedures. She stressed the significant role of the oil sector in the national economy and the indispensable need for practical protection mechanisms, including mandatory insurance with a focus on Accident and Occupational Disease Insurance. Manjata asserted that the partnership enhances the Government's capacity to ensure legal compliance, prevent violations, and safeguard the rights of workers and companies. For ARSEG, the alliance represents a concrete step in strengthening preventive and educational supervision, prioritizing compliance, trans parency, and the sustainability of the insurance market in the oil industry. The implementation of the protocol is expected to yield measurable results through the efforts of focal points and technical groups, contributing to a strengthened culture of accountability, safety, and social protection in the sector.
