Luanda: The Angolan government has called upon businesspeople in the milk production sector to conduct a comprehensive survey to identify prevailing issues and devise solutions aimed at increasing milk production across the nation. This initiative was discussed during a meeting involving the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jos© de Lima Massano, and the Cattle Breeders' Association, focusing on evaluating the needs of the dairy industry.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Didi Kitumba, the secretary-general of the National Federation of Livestock Cooperatives of Angola (FENACOOPA), highlighted that the challenges faced by the dairy sector are akin to those in other industries. The objective is to synchronize the efforts of the Executive and business owners to tackle these hurdles effectively. Kitumba pointed out that the sector grapples with issues such as inadequate animal food, infrastructure, and labour. He mentioned that a document detailing these needs is being prepared to guide the government in identifying areas where support is required.
FENACOOPA currently produces about four million litres of milk annually. The meeting convened dairy sector businesspeople from different regions, emphasizing a collective approach to addressing the sector's challenges.
