Kizomba Festival Celebrates Angolan Cultural Heritage in Luanda

Luanda: Angolan and international artists celebrated the Kizomba festival in Luanda on Saturday, promoting the culture and the musical style's candidacy for UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity status. The event brought together musicians and dancers, valuing one of the main symbols of Angolan cultural identity.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the initiative included musical performances, dance exhibitions, and moments of sharing about the evolution of Kizomba, highlighting its influence in bringing people closer together and in affirming Angolan culture beyond its borders. During the festival, participants advocated for the preservation and dissemination of Kizomba among new generations, emphasizing the genre's importance in promoting cultural diversity and strengthening ties between Portuguese-speaking countries.

Artists Robertinho, Mona Nicastro, Nando Cruz, Gama, L©o Pr­ncipe, Kaisha, Cristo, and Gibson entertained the audience present, in a night celebrating Angolan culture. The festival takes place at a time when Angola is reinforcing the international promotion of Kizomba, following the submission of the genre's application to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, aiming for recognition as one of the country's most emblematic cultural expressions.
