Mrabet, Africa CDC delegation discuss creation of National Public Health Agency

Tunis: There is need to speed up the setting up of the National Public Health Agency so as to reinforce the health sector’s governance and improve its performance, Health Minister Ali Mrabet said at a meeting held on Thursday with a delegation of experts from the African Union Commission (AUC).

Mrabet further commended the initiative of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to support Tunisia in setting up this agency, which “will boost coordination between the Health Ministry’s technical administrations and contribute to the restructuring and governance of the health sector and improving its performance and efficiency,” reads a Health Ministry press release.

The Africa CDC’s six-day visit to Tunisia (April 17-22) aims to review the setting up of the National Public Health Agency and the formation of a team to work on the various aspects of this project.
