Tunisia partakes in ECOSOC Youth Forum


Tunis: Tunisia is relying on young people in devising and implementing strategies and programmes for sustainable development and improving the social and economic situation, said Tunisian representatives at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum, held on April 16-18 in New York.

Led by Tunisia’s Permanent Representative to UN Tarek Ladab, the delegation stated that Tunisia will remain proud of its youth and its achievements at the national and international levels and considers them as its most important resource, while seeking to ensure that they are bearers of a message of peace, work and edification, and players in the creation of a peaceful, united, balanced and sustainable Tunisian and international society.

The Tunisian delegation further reviewed the various decisions made for the benefit of the youth and which aim to increase their involvement in decision-making and listen to their concerns and proposals, as well as the programmes to empower, integrate and protect them against all form
s of exclusion, marginalisation, radicalisation and terrorism.

The Tunisian representatives recalled the genocide and violations against the youth and children in Gaza and in all the Palestinian territory, reiterating call to the international community and the Security Council to shoulder their responsibilities and stop the occupation forces’ war crimes and attacks.
