Ouagadougou: The University Reflection and Awakening Unit (CREU) recently hosted the National Day of Academic Orientation and Reorientation (JNORA) with the support of the Minister of Secondary Education, Dr. Boubacar Savadogo, represented by Mr. Alexandre Le Grand Zongo. This initiative is designed to aid new and former high school graduates in making informed decisions regarding their academic and professional paths.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, themed "Strategic orientation and academic commitment: laying the foundations for a controlled future," featured panels, conferences, and discussions with education and employment professionals. Distinguished attendees included Colonel Yaguibou Issa, Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie; Mr. Missa William Sosth¨ne Sanou, Special Advisor to the President of Faso on youth issues; and Mrs. Sidonie Ou©draogo, 4th Vice-President of the special delegation of Ouagadougou.
Minister Boubacar Savadogo, in his opening message, emphasized the significance of providing young people with fair access to academic and professional information to help them construct their futures. He advocated for the promotion of vocational training as an essential path to future innovation and dignity.
Ange Drabo, president of the CREU, highlighted the importance of guidance in shaping a young person's future, stressing the need for informed decision-making in academic and professional pursuits. Colonel Yaguibou encouraged the youth to actively shape their futures based on personal talents and aspirations, warning against conformist choices.
The event also included panels by communications experts and institutional representatives, alongside a special session by the German Embassy focusing on international study and internship opportunities.
Since its establishment on July 29, 2024, the CREU has been committed to supporting students in their academic and professional development through awareness campaigns and exchange platforms. JNORA aims to be a pivotal moment in encouraging a new approach to guidance in Burkina Faso.
