Niamey: The Nigerien government has announced plans to tackle the ongoing increase in tuition fees and the disparities seen between educational institutions, even those of the same category. During a recent Council of Ministers meeting chaired by Head of State Army General Abdourahamane Tiani, a draft decree was adopted to establish tuition fees for private training establishments and institutions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the final document from the government meeting, which was shared with ANP, emphasizes the vision of the President of the Republic. Under Axis 2, titled "Inclusive development of human capital," the government prioritizes the development of education and training. As part of this initiative, a national ad hoc committee was formed to evaluate the fees charged by private training establishments and institutions.
The committee's findings underscored the necessity for the state to regulate the fees in private training establishments and institutions. The draft decree aims to address the year-on-year rise in tuition fees and the disparities that have been observed between institutions, especially those within the same category.
