Lisbon: The 'Semba in the World' project was the subject of strategic analysis, study, and technical presentation within the framework of executive training on International Project Management, promoted by CESO Academy, in the city of Lisbon, Portugal.
According to Angola Press News Agency, sent to ANGOP on Friday, the training brought together professionals and specialists from different areas, between May 11 and 15 of this year. The main objective was to strengthen technical skills for structuring, developing, and managing projects aimed at applications for international funding, focusing on multilateral organizations, cooperation agencies, and international development institutions, the note reads.
During the five days of training, the project 'Semba in the World' (Angolan music and dance styles) was used as a case study, through the thematic module entitled 'Semba Vivo: Education, Memory and Future', focused on valuing Semba as a living cultural heritage, an instrument of social cohesion and a strategic asset for sustainable cultural development. Among the main challenges analyzed were the low intergenerational transmission of Semba, and the fragility of the economic and professional valuation of traditional culture.
The insufficient integration of cultural heritage into educational processes and the need to create pathways for cultural empowerment and professionalization were also analyzed. The working group was coordinated by specialist Margarida Seco and included the Angolan H©lio Arago, coordinator of the 'Semba in the World' project, as well as Joana Leite and Simo Paiva.
Throughout the training, the project was aligned with internationally recognized methodologies and standards for accessing external funding mechanisms, including instruments for cultural cooperation, heritage education, community development, and the creative economy. At the closing of the training, the trainer and CEO of CESO Academy, Rui Santos, expressed CESO's institutional commitment to technically supporting the process of mobilizing resources and raising the necessary funding for the implementation of the "Semba in the World" project.
The initiative reinforces the positioning of Semba as a cultural heritage of high identity, educational, and economic value, while simultaneously promoting new opportunities for international cooperation between Angola, Portugal, Brazil, and other Lusophone areas.
