Luanda: The Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues Dias, announced that more than 3.4 million insured individuals have been registered with the National Social Security Institute (INSS) by March. This announcement was made at the opening of the INSS 2026 Advisory Council. According to Angola Press News Agency, the institute registered 288,381 contributors and 169,118 pensioners within the same period. Minister Dias emphasized that these figures highlight the growing scope of the government's intervention and the increased responsibility of managing a system that impacts millions of lives. "More than numbers, they are the concrete expression of the impact of our action and the reflection of the trust that citizens place in the Mandatory Protection System (PSO)," she stated. The minister also stressed the importance of guiding principles such as discipline, rigor, ethics, and mutual respect for professionals, which include adhering strictly to commitments, punctuality, and respecting deadlines. Teresa Rodrigues highlighted that credibility, once lost, is challenging to regain. She urged professionals to respect the process of professional advancement and work diligently to earn recognition through career promotion. Under the theme "Institutional Consolidation and Expansion of Mandatory Social Protection," the INSS Advisory Council aims to strengthen institutional dialogue and promote a participatory approach in monitoring Mandatory Social Protection policies. The two-day meeting will gather officials and experts to analyze the INSS system's performance, share experiences, and strategize on institutional strengthening and expanding social security coverage in Angola.
