The synchronous electrical interconnection between the electricity transmission networks of Algeria, Tunisia and Libya, launched Tuesday, November 21, at 10 a.m. until November 22, at the same time, was successfully completed. An online preliminary technical meeting was held, on Monday, November 20, 2023, and brought together experts from electricity companies in Tunisia, Algeria and Libya so as to make this experiment a success , according to a press release published Wednesday by the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG). An agreement was also reached to make a second experiment, while awaiting the final connection of the Tunisia-Libya networks. STEG CEO, Fayçal Trifa, and Deputy General Director, Néjib Chtourou, Tuesday, visited the National Center of the Control of the Electricity System in Radès, to learn about the progress of this experiment, which recorded an energy exchange between countries of the Arab Maghreb.
