Luanda: The Angolan National Diamond Trading Company (SODIAM) announced on Saturday that it will hold an online auction of 35 special diamonds this month. In a statement, the company says that viewing sessions will take place from the 22nd to the 25th of this month at SODIAM's headquarters in Luanda, and the bidding process will be conducted exclusively electronically, with closing scheduled for June 26th at 10:00 AM local time.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the auction will be held in collaboration with TRANS ATLANTIC GEM SALES and is aimed at clients registered in SODIAM's database with expertise in the trading of special stones. The lots to be auctioned include a RUN-OF-MINE and 35 special stones, weighing 10.80 carats or more, with 12 from the LUELE production, 11 from the Catoca production, four from Mussende, and two from each Lulo and Calonda, Cuilo Kwenda, Kaixepa, Cuango, Somiluama, and Muxianda.
The note explains that a detailed participation package will be provided in due course to invited participants. This event marks the 17th rough diamond auction organized by SODIAM since 2019, the last one being held in March of this year.
Founded in November 1999, SODIAM is the state-owned company responsible for the commercialization of Angola's diamond production. The products marketed through SODIAM originate from twenty-seven mining companies, including kimberlite and alluvial deposits, and cover the entire spectrum of qualities in terms of size, shapes, purity, and color.
In 2025, the company exported approximately 17.8 million carats of rough diamonds for a total value of approximately USD 1.8 billion, corresponding to an average price of 101.70 dollars per carat, positioning Angola as the third largest producer of rough diamonds in the world in terms of value.
