TAAG Undergoes Transformation to Meet Demand of New Airport

Malanje: The CEO of Angolan airlines (TAAG), Clovis Rosa, announced that the national carrier is currently undergoing a transformation process to address the challenges presented by the new international airport.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Clovis Rosa made these remarks during the 18th Council of the Ministry of Transport held in Malanje. He emphasized that the structural changes are aimed at enhancing security and preventive maintenance of TAAG's facilities. A key aspect of this transformation involves the technological renewal of the fleet, with the introduction of Airbus A220s for medium-haul routes, chosen for their efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The CEO also mentioned that while new routes to Africa and Europe are being considered, their implementation will depend on economic feasibility. Despite the potential for new international routes, Rosa acknowledged that TAAG is currently dealing with a historical liability of personnel and debts from previous administrations, which are impacting revenue generated from international operations.

Addressing concerns about the frequency of flights to Malanje, Rosa explained that domestic operations are influenced by market demand and the availability of aircraft for local flights. He assured that the current flight frequency is regular and that the company continuously assesses the need for additional services, stating, "We cannot have planes flying empty."

The 18th Advisory Council of the Ministry of Transport serves as a platform for discussing key issues facing the transportation sector, bringing together prominent leaders to strategize and plan for future developments.
