Luanda: The travel and tourism sector in Angola registered a growth of 6.1 percent in 2025, representing a triple increase compared to previous years, the president of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Gloria Guevara said on Thursday. Addressing the opening of the 'Angola Investment Summit 2026,' on Thursday in the Angolan capital, the WTTC official, forecasts for this year an even greater acceleration, with estimated growth of 6.7 percent.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the tourism sector currently guarantees around 400,000 jobs in Angola, with projections for next year even more optimistic, forecasting the creation of almost 20,000 additional new jobs. Gloria Guevara emphasized that the choice of Angola for the launch of the new global framework for attracting investment in tourism was not accidental, as it results from the sector's current performance, public policies, and the strong potential that the country presents in the international tourism market.

For the WTTC, Angola is noted for its outstanding natural assets, rich cultural diversity, biodiversity, and authenticity that appeal to modern travelers. The president of the WTTC highlighted Angola as a prime example of how tourism can be effectively integrated into a nation's economic development and growth strategy. She invited President Joo Louren§o to be the keynote speaker at the WTTC's next Global Summit in Malta on October 7 and 8, providing a platform for Angola to showcase its potential and engage directly with global leaders and investors.

The summit, opened by President Joo Louren§o, First Lady Ana Dias Louren§o, and Mozambique's Head of State, Daniel Chapo, is co-organized by the Angolan government in partnership with the Global Tourism Forum Institute. The Angola Investment Summit aims to promote investment opportunities, strengthen public-private partnerships, and boost projects that generate employment, economic growth, and sustainable development for the country.
