Tunisia, Saudi Arabia seek stronger cultural ties

Stepped-up cultural cooperation, mainly in handicrafts, was discussed as Minister of Cultural Affairs Hayet Ketat Guermazi met Wednesday with Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan bin Ibrahim Al-Tawq. The exchange of expertise in the creation of a register of artisans took centre stage. The meeting was held Tuesday on the sidelines of the 12th Conference of Ministers of Culture in the Islamic World which opened Monday in Doha under the theme “Towards a Renewal of Cultural Action in the Islamic world.” Ways to enhance international participation in cultural events and book fairs held in both countries. The Saudi Assistant Minister offered congratulations to Tunisia on the inscription of the island of Djerba on UNESCO World Heritage List.
