Luanda: A 10% salary increase for public servants, approved within the framework of the 2026 General State Budget, will take effect in January, according to a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette on Thursday. The decree aims to restore the purchasing power of civil servants and administrative agents.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the measure is expected to reinforce professional dignity and contribute to the continuous improvement of public service quality within the scope of the Roadmap for the Implementation of the New Remuneration Architecture of the Public Administration (RINAR). The increase applies to base salaries in the Angolan public service, including executive positions, judicial magistrates, courts, the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), the National Police, and the executive bodies of different ministerial departments.
The increase is expected to stimulate consumption, investment, and job creation, thereby improving citizens' living conditions and strengthening the national economy. The Presidential Decree also specifies that doctors and military health personnel may opt for the remuneration regime of personnel integrated into the professional careers of civilian health sector personnel.
The Decree emphasizes that the base salaries of sovereign bodies not covered by this measure must be adjusted by a separate decree within the budgetary limits established by the law, which approved the 2026 State Budget.
