Angolan Tour Operators Praise Government Initiatives at Madrid Tourism Fair

Madrid: Tour operators are praising the measures taken by the Angolan government to promote tourism in the country, saying they contribute to the development of the sector. On Friday in Madrid, Spain, the president of the Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators of Angola (AAVOTA), Catarina Oliveira, expressed this satisfaction at the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR).

According to Angola Press News Agency, Oliveira stated that since the government began supporting tourism, tour operators have benefited from the improved conditions being created. She acknowledged that while there is still significant work to be done in terms of infrastructure, tourism in Angola is progressing positively.

Oliveira emphasized that tour operators now have the conditions necessary to thrive, highlighting that tourism extends beyond hotels, resorts, or restaurants. "Tourism isn't just hotels, resorts, or restaurants. It's part of it, but when we empower the entire tourism chain, we will see tourism take off," she remarked.

She also underscored the importance of focusing on logistics, as Angola has met its initial goals, and operators must better organize their businesses. Furthermore, the country needs to enhance its organization to accommodate visitors more effectively.

Catarina Oliveira noted that Angola is gradually gaining recognition on the international stage. Reflecting on the award for female leadership she received in November of last year, Oliveira viewed it as a testament to her dedication and efforts in advancing Angolan tourism.

The Angolan Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (AAVOTA), established in 1997, is participating in FITUR, Europe's largest tourism fair, with the aim of establishing partnerships with foreign tourism entities to further develop Angola's tourism sector.

FITUR, one of the world's most influential international tourism fairs, is held at IFEMA Madrid from January 21 to 25, solidifying its position as a key event for both inbound and outbound tourism markets.
