Congolese Press Highlights Angola’s Upcoming ANGOTIC 2026 Forum

Luanda: The 6th edition of the Angola International Forum on Information and Communication Technologies (ANGOTIC 2026) is set to take place from June 11 to 13, 2026, in Luanda, and was prominently featured last Sunday in the Econews newspaper of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Congolese newspaper highlighted the event under the headline: "ANGOTIC 2026: Angola accelerates digital transformation and aims to become an African technological hub.' This significant forum will operate under the theme "On the road to digital transformation," underscoring Angola's ambition to establish itself as a regional technological hub amid the rise of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and innovation as key drivers of economic competitiveness across Africa.

The source reveals that the forum is one of Africa's most critical technology and business gatherings, with over 20,000 participants anticipated. Attendees will include policymakers, telecommunications operators, startups, investors, academics, and international organization representatives, all convening to discuss the digital transformations reshaping African economic models.

Econews noted that the event aligns with Angola's broader strategy to modernize its economy through diversification and innovation. The newspaper recalled remarks from Angola's Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Media, Mario Augusto da Silva Oliveira, highlighting the previous edition's success in demonstrating the rising interest in ICT and its positive impact on the population.

The Congolese media outlet emphasized that, for Angolan authorities, the forum is a strategic tool for accelerating the country's modernization and enhancing its appeal to international investors.

A focal point for Africa's digital transformation, ANGOTIC 2026 will concentrate on key areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, e-government, data centers, digital television, local products and services, combating fake news, and sustainable innovation. According to the publication, which is widely read in Kinshasa, the event will feature thematic conferences, specialized workshops, and technological demonstrations, positioning it as a hub for generating ideas and solutions.

Discussions will specifically address the digitization of public services, enhancing connectivity, digital inclusion, and fostering local startups to tackle African market challenges.
