Health Technicians in Namibe Province Receive Neonatal Resuscitation Training

Luanda: At least 80 health technicians from Namibe province are participating in a neonatal resuscitation training course that started Monday, aiming to strengthen skills to provide immediate assistance to newborns in emergency situations. The three-day training is part of the Ministry of Health's strategy to enhance human resources in the field of neonatology, with a view to reducing neonatal mortality and improving the quality of care provided to mothers and babies.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the national coordinator of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Margarida Correia, stated that the initiative aims to standardize clinical procedures and strengthen the response capacity of health teams in maternity wards and hospital units. The training is designed to enable professionals to perform newborn resuscitation, ensure the safe transport of babies at risk, and improve survival conditions with quality of life.

The action is part of the national training expansion plan, which has already covered provinces in the central and northern regions of the country and should gradually extend to the remaining provinces. In total, the program aims to train 570 healthcare professionals in neonatal resuscitation techniques, safe transport of newborns in at-risk situations, and assistance provided by traditional midwives. Participants will receive continuous updating of knowledge to meet the challenges of healthcare units, especially in critical situations that require rapid and precise intervention.
