Luanda: A satellite internet system has been installed in the Quibala-Norte commune, northern Zaire province, as part of a program to expand the communications network to remote areas of the region. Speaking to the press on Monday, the Quindendeje municipal administrator, Alberto Domingos Carlos, said the project is an initiative of the municipal administration and aims to reduce digital exclusion and promote the socio-economic development of the locality.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Carlos explained that, in addition to the Quibala-Norte commune, the project will also be implemented in four other localities in the municipality, namely Kinsimba, Dia-dia, Buezo, and Kimacucu. In total, five internet access points will be created in the area to connect the locality to the rest of the country and the world.
Carlos added that the internet system will also help students in academic research and in strengthening their intellectual repertoire. The municipality of Quindeje has an estimated population of over 14,000 inhabitants. Quindeje became a municipality in January 2025, within the framework of the country's new Political-Administrative Division.
