Lunda-sul: At least 404 cases of measles were registered from January to June of this year in different health units in the province of Lunda-Sul, resulting in three deaths.
According to Angola Press News Agency, a report from the Public Health department, sent to ANGOP, the municipality of Cassengo registered the highest number of cases, with approximately 239 controlled and two deaths, followed by Saurimo and Dala with 46 and 45, respectively.
The note states that Cassengo carried out two measles control campaigns, where 10,754 children were vaccinated, with 2,345 in Dala and 6,000 in Saurimo. Measles is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus of the paramyxoviridae family, which leads to the appearance of symptoms such as fever, persistent cough, runny nose, and small reddish spots.
