Luanda: President Joo Louren§o congratulated his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, and the people of France on Tuesday on the 237th anniversary of the country's National Day, celebrated today.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Head of State highlighted the date's historical significance and the values of unity and freedom, as well as the popular heroism that shaped the identity of the French Republic. Joo Louren§o also acknowledged France's role as a benchmark in the fields of science, the arts, and culture, and its capacity to face the challenges of the contemporary world.
The Angolan leader expressed a desire to deepen the ties of friendship and cooperation between Angola and France, aiming to realize initiatives of common interest and strengthen the bilateral partnership for the benefit of both peoples. Relations between Angola and France are undergoing a phase of renewal and diversification, driven by the signing of a new Framework Cooperation Agreement, which updated the 1976 bilateral treaty.
This instrument has strengthened collaboration in the political-diplomatic, economic, scientific, cultural, security, and defense spheres, keeping pace with new international dynamics. Cooperation between the two countries also extends to the sectors of agriculture, education, technological innovation, and human capital development.
Notable projects include support for food security, the rehabilitation of irrigation schemes, professional training, scholarships for Angolan students, the promotion of French language education, and initiatives in the space sector and the digitization of national heritage. Angola and France also maintain active cooperation in multilateral forums and continue efforts to expand private investment and business opportunities, aiming to consolidate a strategic partnership geared toward sustainable development and mutual benefit.
