President Joo Louren§o Congratulates Indonesian Counterpart on Independence Day

Angola: Angolan President Joo Louren§o has congratulated the people and Government of Indonesia on the occasion of the country's National Independence Day, observed on Monday. In a message addressed to his Indonesian counterpart, Prabowo Subianto, the Angolan President highlighted Indonesia's constructive role over recent decades in promoting an environment of balance and stability and reducing tensions in international relations.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the message, made public by the Press Services of the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the Angolan Head of State emphasized the importance of Indonesia's approach in view of the dangerous trends shaping the international landscape. He stressed the significance of contributing to peace-building and strengthening global security.

Joo Louren§o also highlighted the resource potential of Angola and Indonesia, as well as their converging views on development strategies, as factors conducive to deepening bilateral relations. He expressed the prospect of broader cooperation between the two countries in various fields, with a view to creating conditions to strengthen and consolidate their respective economies and improve the living conditions of the Angolan and Indonesian peoples.

At the end of the message, Joo Louren§o wished President Prabowo Subianto personal well-being and good health, as well as prosperity for the people of Indonesia. Angola and Indonesia maintain diplomatic relations based on South-South cooperation and have strengthened political and economic dialogue mechanisms in recent years, creating new opportunities for partnerships in the energy, oil and gas, agriculture, education and trade sectors.

Closer ties between the two countries are rooted in the spirit of the 1955 Bandung Conference, which marked a new stage in cooperation between Asian and African countries and contributed to strengthening the principles of solidarity and South-South cooperation. The two sides have further strengthened bilateral relations, with new prospects for partnerships in energy, oil and gas, agriculture, fisheries, education and trade.

The two countries are also working to consolidate political and economic dialogue mechanisms, notably through the establishment of a Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation and the opening of Angola's diplomatic mission in Jakarta. In the energy sector, Indonesian oil company PT Pertamina has expressed interest in investing in the Angolan market, while Angola's participation in the Trade Expo Indonesia has been used to promote investment opportunities and national products.

Agriculture, aquaculture, and education are also among the areas with potential for stronger cooperation, including knowledge-transfer initiatives and the award of scholarships to Angolan students.
