Luanda: The Luanda Provincial Health Pastoral recorded more than 80 cases of medical assistance during the three days of Pope Leo XIV's visit to the Angolan capital, in a balance considered positive and without the occurrence of serious situations. The information was provided by Mariquinhas Portela, who highlighted the effective functioning of the health system set up to accompany the religious event.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the number of cases ranged from about 80 to 89 at the provincial level, mainly involving mild situations such as hypertension, hypoglycemia, gastritis, lower back pain, and headaches, all duly assisted by the health teams. 'We did not have any major serious cases. The balance is positive at the provincial level and everything went normally, thanks to the commitment of the professionals and the behavior of the population,' she said.
She mentioned that, at the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima, the last stop on Pope Leo XIV's visit, approximately 10 people received medical attention, none of whom were serious. Mariquinhas Portela stated that more than one hundred health professionals were mobilized throughout the province of Luanda to guarantee medical assistance during the three days of the papal visit, ensuring a quick and effective response whenever necessary.
"The final assessment is considered positive, reflecting not only the organization of the health system, but also the peaceful atmosphere experienced during Pope Leo XIV's visit," she concluded.
